Virgin Music Group has entered into a global distribution partnership with Gujarati folk singer Rajesh Ahir, covering both his future releases and existing catalogue.
The agreement will see Virgin Music Group distribute Ahir’s music worldwide as the company continues to expand its presence across India’s regional music landscape.
Hailing from Dhaneti village in Kutch, Gujarat, Ahir has built a strong following through Gujarati folk and devotional music. His catalogue includes songs such as Maan Na Mohanji, Dwarika Ni Sheriye, Kana Ne Makhan Bhave, Aavje Mogal and Mava Tari Murti. Known for blending traditional Gujarati and Kutch folk influences with contemporary production, Ahir has helped introduce regional music to newer audiences while remaining rooted in the state’s musical traditions.
Commenting on the partnership, Rajesh Ahir said:
“Music has always been my way of connecting with people and sharing stories that come from the heart. Working with Virgin Music Group is the start of an exciting new chapter in my journey. Their global infrastructure makes them the ideal partner to help take my music to audiences far and wide, and I look forward to creating songs that continue to inspire, entertain, and leave a lasting impact.”
The deal reflects the growing international demand for regional Indian music, with labels and distributors increasingly investing in artists performing in languages beyond Hindi. Streaming platforms have enabled regional repertoire to reach listeners across the Indian diaspora as well as new audiences worldwide, making global distribution an increasingly important part of artist growth strategies.
Amol Suryavanshi, Label Manager at Virgin Music Group, said:
“Rajesh Ahir is a remarkable artist whose authenticity, creativity, and connection with his audience makes him truly special. We’re excited to work closely with Rajesh and help him take Gujarati music to listeners across India and around the world.”
The partnership adds another regional artist to Virgin Music Group’s growing roster in India as the company continues to work with independent artists and labels across multiple languages and genres.
