UK-headquartered Virtuoso Music has launched its India operations, marking the company’s first expansion into South Asia as it looks to tap into one of the world’s fastest-growing music markets.

The company will operate across artist development, original music production, rights management and distribution, with music in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu already in production. Its first Indian releases are expected in early 2027.
Rather than operating solely as a distributor or label, Virtuoso says it will work across multiple parts of the music value chain, partnering with artists and rights holders on music creation, catalogue management, marketing and release strategies.
The company also plans to pursue sync licensing, brand partnerships and international placement opportunities to help expand the reach of Indian repertoire beyond domestic audiences.
Commenting on the launch, Andrew Smith, Head of Digital Strategy at Virtuoso Music, said:
“India has an extraordinary depth of musical talent across languages, genres and generations. We’re here to work alongside that talent and build something of real and lasting value together.”
Virtuoso said its business model is built around long-term partnerships with creators, with a focus on aligning commercial interests between artists and collaborators while investing in talent development and music releases.
The company will also offer catalogue management services for rights holders, giving existing catalogues access to its rights administration and global distribution network.
“We believe the future of the music ecosystem lies in ensuring that the people who create music have a genuine share in the success of their work,” said Sahaj Miya, Head of New Business & Music at Virtuoso Music.
The move comes as international music companies continue to increase their investment in India. Growth in streaming, expanding regional-language consumption and rising global interest in Indian music have prompted labels, distributors and artist services companies to strengthen their presence in the market.
Virtuoso said it will announce its first slate of artist and industry partnerships in the coming months as it builds its business across India.
