Sony Music Entertainment India and Tiger Baby have announced the launch of Tiger Baby Records, a joint-venture music label dedicated to supporting emerging artists, fostering creative storytelling, and strengthening connections between musicians, audiences, and brands.
The collaboration brings together the expertise of filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, along with singer-songwriter and music supervisor Ankur Tewari, and the global industry network of Sony Music Entertainment India. The partnership aims to create a space for innovative music production and artist development.
As one of its first projects, Tiger Baby Records has collaborated with jewellery brand Tanishq to release a wedding song composed by Abhishek-Ananya and performed by Poorvi Koutish. Directed by Reema Kagti, the music video blends visual storytelling with musical composition.
The label has also introduced the soundtrack for Superboys of Malegaon, a film that follows the journey of Nasir Shaikh, a filmmaker from Malegaon. The soundtrack features compositions by Sachin-Jigar with lyrics by renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Looking ahead, Tiger Baby Records plans to spotlight original music curated by Ankur Tewari, featuring diverse styles and perspectives from emerging artists. As part of its artist development efforts, the label will launch the “City Sessions” initiative in partnership with Mumbai’s Island City Studios.
City Sessions will serve as a creative platform for artists to experiment and collaborate in a studio setting, offering singer-songwriters opportunities to refine their skills, work with established musicians, and reach wider audiences.
With the Indian music industry experiencing rapid growth due to digital expansion and evolving listener preferences, Tiger Baby Records seeks to shape the future of independent music by combining Sony Music Entertainment India’s industry expertise with an artist-driven creative approach.
