Badshah and KR$NA are set to headline the music line-up for MLBx: Mumbai, as Major League Baseball brings its 3-on-3 format to India for the first time on October 24.
Taking place at the Mumbai Football Arena at Andheri Sports Complex, MLBx: Mumbai will combine baseball with live music, food and interactive fan experiences. The event is part of MLB’s broader push to build an audience for the sport in India, with the entertainment programming designed to bring music and sports audiences into the same space.
Badshah will perform a specially curated set that brings together his catalogue with elements inspired by Americana, while KR$NA will perform a set built around his original music. DJ OG Shez is also part of the line-up, adding DJ sets to the programme.
The event will also feature India’s T20 World Cup-winning captain and MLB Ambassador Suryakumar Yadav, alongside former MLB All-Stars Nick Swisher and Adrián González. More participants are expected to be announced ahead of the event.
At the centre of the event is MLBx, a mixed 3-on-3 format developed by Major League Baseball that focuses on fast-paced gameplay, power hitting and defensive plays. The format has previously been staged at venues across the US, as well as in London, Seoul and Mexico City, before its India debut in Mumbai.
For Badshah, the performance will also include a different musical direction from his usual live sets. MLB India says his set will combine his biggest tracks with “unexpected sounds and twists” inspired by Americana. KR$NA, meanwhile, will bring his hip-hop catalogue to an event built around a sport that is still relatively new to Indian audiences.
The music programming reflects a larger trend in the live entertainment market, where sports properties are increasingly using concerts, DJs and cultural programming to build experiences beyond the game itself. MLBx: Mumbai is taking that approach a step further by pairing an international sporting property with established Indian hip-hop and pop acts.
