JioSaavn introduces Music Profile feature focused on listener identity & discovery

JioSaavn launches Music Profile, enabling users to track listening habits, earn persona badges, and explore personalized music insights.
JioSaavn introduces Music Profile, turning listening data into personalized music identities and discovery experiences.

JioSaavn has launched a new feature called Music Profile, giving users a way to track their listening habits, showcase their favourite artists and playlists, and build a public-facing profile based on their music preferences.

Available across Android, iOS and web, the feature analyses listening behaviour to generate what JioSaavn calls a user’s “Music Persona”, assigning badges based on listening patterns and genre preferences. Personas include labels such as Punjabi MuridBollywood BhaktHip Hop Hustler and Telugu Abhimani.

The launch reflects a broader shift among streaming platforms towards making music consumption more social and identity-driven. Beyond offering access to songs and playlists, services are increasingly introducing features that allow listeners to showcase their tastes, track engagement and express themselves through their listening behaviour.

Music Profile includes listening insights such as favourite genres, moods, artists and songs, along with weekly and monthly summaries designed to help users track how their preferences evolve over time.

The feature also introduces milestone tracking based on activity such as songs streamed, artists discovered and playlists created. Users can select a custom handle, update a personal status and highlight favourite artists on their profile.

According to JioSaavn, the feature is intended to make music discovery more personalised while giving listeners greater visibility into their own listening habits.

Commenting on the launch, a JioSaavn spokesperson said:

“Music plays an important role in how people express themselves and connect with the world around them. With Music Profile, we are creating a more personalized experience that helps listeners understand their evolving music preferences while enabling discovery that reflects their mood. This launch is in line with our continued focus on building experiences that go beyond streaming.”

The introduction of Music Profile comes as streaming platforms continue to experiment with features that deepen engagement beyond passive listening. From personalised year-end recaps and fan communities to creator-focused tools and listening statistics, music services are increasingly competing on user experience as much as catalogue size.

For artists, features that encourage users to publicly display their listening preferences could also create additional opportunities for discovery and fan engagement within streaming platforms themselves.

Music Profile can be accessed through the Library section on Android devices and the Profile section on iOS.
