The Event and Entertainment Management Association has asked event organisers to begin using the India Cine Hub portal for permissions, following its expansion to include live events and concerts.
The portal, developed under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, was originally set up to streamline film shooting approvals. Its scope now includes live events, bringing concerts and large-format experiences into a single-window system that aims to reduce fragmentation in the permissions process.
In a note to its members, EEMA pointed to long-standing issues around approvals, including multiple authorities, duplication of documentation and inconsistent processes across states. The association said the shift could address a key operational challenge for the live events business.
“This is not just another platform. This is the beginning of structural reform.”
The India Cine Hub portal is designed to offer a unified interface for permissions across states and union territories, with integrated approvals, real-time tracking and time-bound processing. It also aims to standardise documentation and reduce duplication across regulatory bodies.
For organisers, where timelines are often dependent on clearances from multiple departments, a centralised system could bring more predictability to execution. EEMA, however, noted that its impact will depend on adoption across the industry.
“Let us be very clear, this is a moment we cannot afford to ignore.”
The association has urged its members to route all applicable permissions through the platform and encourage partners, venues and clients to do the same. It has also asked stakeholders to document their experience, including delays or gaps, and share feedback.
“If we, as the primary stakeholders, do not actively use and strengthen this system, we risk losing momentum on a reform that could redefine our operating environment.”
EEMA said it will continue to engage with the Ministry to address coordination across agencies, define service timelines and refine the platform based on user feedback. Beyond permissions, the association has positioned the move as part of a broader push towards a more formal and predictable operating environment for live events.
