Melbourne-based songwriter and musician ISHAN has released his latest single, ‘Supposed To Be’, following a series of standout performances at premier Australian festivals such as BIGSOUND, The Big Pineapple, and Queenscliff Music Festival. The track arrives ahead of an exciting December tour across India, further establishing ISHAN as a rising global talent.
‘Supposed To Be’ represents a significant artistic milestone, as it is the first release in which ISHAN delves into his cultural heritage. Written during a visit to Mumbai in collaboration with Indian songwriter and producer Keshav Tyohar, the track masterfully blends ISHAN’s signature acoustic storytelling with Indian musical elements. Tyohar’s Hindi verse adds depth and authenticity to the composition, creating a rich tapestry of sound that unites diverse musical traditions.
“We wrote most of the song in a single session,” ISHAN explains. “The lyrics explore the challenges of life on the road as an artist—how it can strain personal relationships and leave one grappling with feelings of regret. At the same time, it’s a reflection on accepting that this journey was inevitable, and it was always going to be this way.”
To celebrate this release and build momentum for his debut album, Who the Hell is Klara? (scheduled for March 2025), ISHAN will embark on a series of performances across India. Highlights include The Hills Festival in Meghalaya, a support slot for iconic Canadian artist Bryan Adams in Kolkata, and a set at NH7 Weekender, sharing the stage with global and Indian artists such as Jorja Smith and Amit Trivedi.
The upcoming album will feature previously released singles, including ‘Her Boyfriend’s House’, ‘Make Up Moves’, and ‘My Mouth (la la la)’, the latter amassing over 10 million streams worldwide. With a busy schedule of live performances and more music to come, ISHAN is cementing his status as one of Australia’s most compelling new voices in the international music scene.
