Begum announce four-city India tour after three-year hiatus

Indian indie band Begum are set to return to the live circuit with the We Are Okay! Tour, their first run of shows in three years.

The four-city tour will cover New Delhi, Goa, Mumbai and Bengaluru in October, marking the band’s return to live performance after an extended break.

Formed in Delhi in 2013, Begum comprises Kartik Pillai, Karan Singh and Dhruv Bhola. The band emerged from the city’s independent music scene with a sound that moves between experimental pop, dream pop and indie rock. Their catalogue includes Bagh (2014), W.A.E (2016) and Are You Okay? (2022).

While Begum have been away from the stage, their music has continued to reach listeners, including a newer generation discovering the band during the hiatus. The group has developed a distinct approach to songwriting that draws on pop influences while leaving room for experimentation and discomfort.

That approach has also earned Begum a reputation as a “band’s band”, with their work finding an audience among fellow musicians as well as listeners outside the independent music community.

The We Are Okay! Tour will introduce what the band describes as its next iteration, giving audiences their first opportunity to hear and see Begum in a live setting following the three-year pause.
