Mumbai-based startup lyrcs.ai has launched an AI-powered lyrics transcription platform designed for record labels, distributors and independent artists working across Indian and international music.
The platform automatically transcribes lyrics in their original script, generates Roman transliterations, creates time-synchronised lyric files in LRC and SRT formats, and produces lyric videos. According to the company, the entire process is completed in under 10 minutes.
The service has been developed to address the challenge of creating accurate lyrics metadata for regional language music, an area that has become increasingly important as Indian-language catalogues continue to grow on streaming platforms.

“Lyrics are one of those things that seem like a nice-to-have until you look at the data,” said Vijay Basrur, Founder of lyrcs.ai. “They increase engagement on streaming platforms, they’re the starting point for lyric videos that drive discovery on YouTube, and there is a significant back catalogue where this metadata simply doesn’t exist. We built lyrcs.ai to make that solvable.”
Basrur previously founded digital music distribution platform OK Listen Media, which was acquired by AWAL in 2023. He said lyrcs.ai was developed following discussions with music industry professionals looking for scalable lyrics solutions.
The platform supports transcription in major Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Gujarati, as well as more than 40 international languages. It also provides Roman transliterations, line-level and word-level timestamps, cultural and contextual notes, and lyric video generation.
For labels and distributors managing larger catalogues, lyrcs.ai offers API access with batch processing capabilities. The company said it has signed its first client and is currently in discussions with several Indian record labels and distributors.
Based in Mumbai, lyrcs.ai is available through a web platform and developer API.
