Universal Music Group has shown ongoing interest in health and wellness startups, and they’ve recently unveiled two new partnerships in this segment.
Firstly, they’ve teamed up with Thrive Global, a wellness company led by Arianna Huffington, a seasoned figure in the media industry. UMG will be Thrive’s exclusive music partner for the Thrive Reset stress management tool. This tool encourages relaxation through 60-second music and breathing exercises.
Secondly, UMG has collaborated with startup soundBrilliance. Under this partnership, UMG will provide music selections from its catalog for soundBrilliance’s clinical trials. SoundBrilliance focuses on utilizing music for therapeutic purposes, such as emotional balance, fitness, sleep improvement, and pain control.
Both of these partnerships were announced during the ‘Music + Health’ conference, co-hosted by UMG and Thrive Global.
Additionally, UMG has revealed plans for a forthcoming app called Solios. Described as a “music-centric wellness app,” Solios employs cognitive science and exclusive audio technology to aid in enhancing focus, relaxation, and sleep.
Sir Lucian Grainge, the head of UMG, emphasized the importance of the connection between music and health in the company’s strategy during the event, aiming to make it more than just anecdotal observations but a fundamental aspect of their approach.
