Tips Music & Legacy Collective launch cross-cultural music project

Tips Music Limited has partnered with Legacy Collective, a platform focused on Indian art, culture, and experiences, to introduce Legacy Collective Roots. This project celebrates India’s regional music traditions through a series of folk-inspired releases tailored for modern audiences.

The collaboration highlights regional stories and talent from across India, presenting them on a national stage. The project features four folk songs from Punjab, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra, each reinterpreted with contemporary music styles while retaining their cultural essence.

The series begins with the Punjabi folk track “Jutti Kasuri”, featuring Gippy Grewal and Dhanashree Verma. Releasing on December 19, 2024, the song is composed by Akshay and IP, with vocals by Gippy Grewal and Rashmeet Kaur. Lyricist IP Singh and director Sneha Shetty Kohli have created a track that blends traditional Punjabi music with modern pop elements.

Hari Nair, CEO of Tips Music Limited, said:
“Our goal has always been to create content that reflects India’s cultural diversity. This partnership with Legacy Collective helps showcase regional musical talent. ‘Jutti Kasuri’ is a celebration of Punjabi culture brought to a modern audience.”

Ayaesha Gooptu, Head of Domestic Browns and RTD at Bacardi India, commented:
“At Legacy Collective, we aim to honor India’s cultural heritage while adapting it for today’s listeners. This collaboration with Tips Music highlights regional music traditions with a fresh perspective. Through these releases, we hope to connect audiences with India’s cultural roots.”

Gippy Grewal added:
Jutti Kasuri is a tribute to Punjab’s energy and culture. This song combines the richness of Punjabi folk with modern music, offering something meaningful for listeners across generations.”

The project spans four regional languages—Punjabi, Bengali, Telugu, and Marathi—emphasizing India’s musical variety. Each track is designed to reflect the unique character of its region while appealing to a wider audience.

Composers Akshay and IP explained:
“Our aim was to bring traditional Punjabi sounds into a modern context, creating a track that connects with diverse listeners.”
