Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda passed away in Chandigarh on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, eleven days after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident. He was 35.
Hospital authorities at Fortis Mohali confirmed that Jawanda was declared dead at 10:55 a.m. after being on life support since late September. The artist had suffered severe head and spinal injuries following a motorcycle accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district on September 27, while en route to Shimla. He reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest before being transferred to Mohali for advanced treatment.
Born in village Pona in Ludhiana’s Jagraon, Jawanda built a loyal following through his blend of powerful vocals and heartfelt songwriting that reflected Punjabi identity and pride. His breakout hit “Kali Jawande Di” propelled him into the spotlight, earning him recognition as one of the leading voices in contemporary Punjabi music.
Over the years, he delivered a string of successful singles including “Tu Dis Penda,” “Khush Reha Kar,” “Sardari,” “Surname,” “Afreen,” “Landlord,” “Down to Earth,” and “Kangani.” Beyond music, Jawanda also made his mark in Punjabi cinema, featuring in “Subedar Joginder Singh” (2018), “Jind Jaan” (2019), and “Mindo Taseeldarni” (2019).
