Agsy signs with Warner Music India amid Punjabi hip-hop’s continued rise

Rapper-singer-songwriter Agsy has joined Warner Music India, debuting on the label with Jatt Baija, a fierce Punjabi hip-hop anthem that draws from folk traditions and global rap influences.

The track arrives at a time when Punjabi hip-hop continues to assert its presence across India’s music landscape, with increasing DSP support and growing international attention.

Agsy, one of the few prominent female voices in Indian hip-hop, brings nearly a decade of independent momentum into this deal. She broke through via MTV Hustle Season 1, later gaining viral traction with Medusa Sedusa, and is known for her theatrical visuals, sharp lyricism, and a style that blends braggadocio with vulnerability.

Jatt Baija is rooted in Punjabi folk melodies, sung by Agsy herself, but shaped by contemporary trap and hip-hop production. The accompanying video casts her in multiple avatars, from a revenge-driven boxer to a high-stakes casino strategist, reflecting a broader narrative of ambition, reclamation, and disruption.

Her Warner signing aligns with a wider industry trend. Major labels are increasingly investing in regional hip-hop, and Punjabi rap in particular has gained prominence through curated playlists like Spotify’s Rap 91, Apple Music’s regional charts, and viral traction on platforms such as YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. Artists including Karan Aujla, Ikka, and GD 47 have crossed over into mainstream brand campaigns, while folk-rap fusions continue to thrive on formats like Coke Studio Bharat.

“Signing with Warner is not validation, it’s alignment,” said Agsy. “This is the next chapter of an empire I’ve been building brick by brick through grit, vision, and art. Jatt Baija is the rawest version of me yet, unfiltered, unshaken, and unapologetically loud.”

Jatt Baija is available now on all major streaming platforms via Warner Music India.
