Warner Music India has partnered with SVF Entertainment, bringing the company into the Bengali music market through one of Eastern India’s largest entertainment businesses. This creates new opportunities for Bengali artists, film soundtracks and music catalogues to reach audiences beyond the region.

Based in Kolkata, SVF Entertainment has been a major force in Bengali entertainment for more than three decades. The company has produced over 180 films, distributed more than 1,400 titles across languages and built an extensive music catalogue through its music division, SVF Music. Alongside film music, the company has also invested in independent artists, live events and cross-border music collaborations.

For Warner Music India, the deal strengthens its presence in a regional market that has long played an important role in India’s cultural landscape. The label has spent the last few years expanding its regional footprint through investments and partnerships across Punjabi, South Indian, Haryanvi and Bhojpuri music.

Commenting on the partnership, Jay Mehta, Managing Director, Recorded Music and Publishing, India and SAARC at Warner Music India, said Bengal’s musical heritage and cultural influence made it an important market for the company as it continues to deepen its regional strategy.

“Some of India’s most enduring cultural movements have emerged from Bengal, and its music continues to inspire generations across borders. SVF has been instrumental in building that legacy, making it the ideal partner as we cement our commitment to regional music in India. Through this partnership, we’re strengthening our presence in Eastern India, and creating a pathway for Bengali artists, soundtracks, and stories to reach listeners worldwide. This is a landmark moment for Bengali music and a major step in our mission to take India’s regional music to the global stage.”

Mahendra Soni, Co-founder and Director of SVF Entertainment, said the collaboration would help expand the reach of Bengali music at a time when regional repertoire is finding audiences across linguistic and geographic boundaries.

“For three decades, SVF has been committed to building platforms for Bengali artists, music and storytelling. As audiences increasingly discover regional music beyond linguistic and geographic boundaries, this partnership with Warner Music India gives us an opportunity to take Bengali music to a much wider audience. Together, we can create new opportunities for our artists and repertoire while continuing to support the creative community behind them.”

The agreement reflects the growing importance of regional music within India’s recorded music market. As streaming platforms continue to make language barriers less relevant, labels are increasingly investing in local catalogues and artist development across regional genres.

For Warner Music India, the addition of Bengali repertoire further strengthens a strategy that has focused on building partnerships across multiple language markets rather than concentrating solely on Hindi-language music.
