The Label Room launches music business programme for artists & industry-curious audiences

The Label Room music business education programme by Merchant Records — open applications for first cohort of artists and industry professionals in India
The Label Room, affiliated with Merchant Records, opens its first cohort of 25 participants for a three-month music business programme beginning mid-May 2026.

The Label Room, a music business education initiative affiliated with Merchant Records, has opened applications for its first cohort, positioning itself as a structured entry point into how the industry operates today.

The three-month programme will run across 24 sessions, with each cohort capped at 25 participants. It is open to both musicians and non-musicians, including aspiring managers, creators and those looking to work in the business.

The curriculum covers core areas such as artist development, marketing and distribution, and revenue models in a digital-first environment. Sessions are built around practical workflows and industry-led discussions, with a focus on how music is created, released and monetised in practice.

“There’s a growing need to understand not just how to make music, but how the entire system around it functions,” said Shivansh Jindal. “The Label Room is designed to give people that perspective – whether they want to build a career in the industry or simply understand it better.”

The programme is not limited to artists, reflecting the wider set of roles shaping today’s music ecosystem beyond performers.

Applications are currently open, with the first cohort set to begin in mid-May.
