Live entertainment company GIGX Live has announced the debut India tour of Los Angeles-based sitarist and vocalist Ronobir Lahiri, scheduled for February 2026. Known for blending traditional sitar with contemporary production elements, Lahiri’s work sits at the intersection of Indian classical technique and electronic, ambient and pop-influenced soundscapes.
The tour marks Lahiri’s first multi-city run in India and a return to the country where his formal musical training began. He studied in Kolkata under Sri Deepak Choudhuri, a direct disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar, forming the foundation of a practice that has since evolved into a globally recognised hybrid style.
Lahiri has performed at major international venues including the Hollywood Bowl and has contributed to global projects such as Katy Perry’s Legendary Lovers from the Grammy-nominated album Prism, as well as Ziggy Marley’s Fly Rasta, including the track Sunshine. His solo projects, including Hypnosis: Deep House Sitar and Redemption Sitar, alongside reinterpretations of tracks such as Still D.R.E. and Redemption Song, have helped build an international audience drawn to his contemporary approach to the instrument.
Commenting on the announcement, Lahiri said the tour represents a significant personal milestone, reflecting both a return to his roots and an opportunity to engage directly with Indian audiences across multiple cities.
The initial leg of the tour will cover Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Goa, with further cities to be announced. The live format will centre on Lahiri’s hybrid performance style, combining sitar, vocals and modern production aesthetics within a contemporary concert framework.
