IFPI has named Mira Chatt as its new Regional Director for Asia, expanding the scope of the role to cover the wider Asia-Pacific region.
Based in Delhi before relocating to Singapore in 2026, Chatt will coordinate IFPI’s national group network, support member companies across key markets, and work alongside IFPI’s Greater China office led by Guo Biao.
She joins from YouTube, where she was Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for India. Earlier in her career, she served as a Canadian diplomat, holding senior postings across South and Southeast Asia and internationally.
Chatt highlighted the timing of her appointment, noting Asia’s central position in the global music business:
“The recorded music industry is at a pivotal moment, with Asia at the forefront of digital consumption and innovation,” she said. “My focus will be on leading our advocacy efforts to ensure artists and record labels can continue to thrive in this rapidly evolving market, particularly as we navigate opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies like AI.”
With over 20 years of experience in government relations, policy, and diplomacy, Chatt brings both public and private sector expertise to the role.
IFPI CEO Victoria Oakley called Asia “a region of enormous importance and opportunity for the global recording industry,” adding:
“Mira’s deep understanding of the region, coupled with her passion for the creative economy, makes her uniquely positioned to lead our work and advocacy across Asia.”
Mira Chatt’s appointment as Regional Director for Asia is more than just a leadership change—it reflects the growing importance of Asia in the global music industry.
