Coldplay wraps up Ahmedabad shows with record-breaking crowd

Experience Coldplay’s groundbreaking Music Of The Spheres World Tour in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Over 222,000 fans gathered at Narendra Modi Stadium for two electrifying concerts on Republic Day weekend.

This past weekend, Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour made its way to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, marking the band’s first-ever performances in the city. Held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25th and 26th, the two concerts drew an impressive crowd of over 222,000 fans in total. Each night saw more than 111,000 attendees, making these some of the largest stadium concerts hosted in India in recent memory.

The Ahmedabad shows followed three earlier performances in Mumbai at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium, which also saw packed audiences. The tour, organized by BookMyShow Live, brought together more than 350,000 fans across its five shows in India. Notably, the dual Ahmedabad concerts were the first-ever live music events held at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Beyond the music, the tour had a notable impact on India’s live events industry. It created job opportunities in production, hospitality, travel, and other sectors while benefiting local businesses as fans traveled to attend the shows.

BookMyShow Live collaborated with local authorities to ensure smooth logistics, offering exclusive trains, private bus services, and facilities like hydration stations for attendees.

The Republic Day show in Ahmedabad included a special moment when frontman Chris Martin greeted the crowd with “Happy Republic Day,” performed Vande Mataram, and wore an Indian flag pin.

The production combined music with storytelling, featuring synchronized LED wristbands, pyrotechnics, fireworks, massive floating installations, and confetti showers. Fans described the experience as both immersive and visually stunning, with the tour raising the bar for large-scale live events in India.

In addition to performing several hits from their latest international No. 1 album Moon Musicthe group incorporated anthems from across the band’s incredible catalog, including ‘Yellow’, ‘The Scientist’, ‘Clocks’, ‘Fix You’, ‘Viva La Vida’, ‘Paradise’, ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’, ‘Hymn For The Weekend’, ‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’, ‘My Universe’ and ‘Higher Power’ into the stadium show.

The tour showcased India’s ability to host large-scale international events, expanding live entertainment opportunities beyond major metropolitan cities. Coldplay’s performances combined cultural elements with impressive production, offering fans a memorable and well-organized experience
