The Shillong Chamber Choir (SCC) marked its 25th anniversary with a performance at the Ladakh Festival 2026, held at Leh’s Polo Ground on September 26.
The ensemble performed to a crowd of more than 5,000 people, using the occasion to announce a new studio album that will mark its 25-year journey. SCC also performed an unreleased track from the upcoming project for the first time.
“Reaching 25 years is a deeply moving and proud moment for all of us,” a spokesperson for the Shillong Chamber Choir said. “Standing on stage at the Ladakh Festival, surrounded by such incredible energy and warmth from the audience, felt like the perfect place to share this milestone and debut our new music.”
Founded in Shillong, Meghalaya, in 2001, the Shillong Chamber Choir has built its repertoire around classical and contemporary Western arrangements, Indian music and regional folk traditions, alongside original compositions.
The ensemble gained wider recognition after winning India’s Got Talent and has since performed in India and internationally, including at venues and events across different parts of the world.
The 25th anniversary will be marked through a series of releases, performances and other events planned through the anniversary year. The new studio album is expected to be part of these celebrations.
