As the Head of Marketing, Communication, and Member Relations at IPRS, she has been central to the society’s transformation into a modern, creator-first organization with an expanded national footprint and global presence.

At IPRS, she has led some of the most influential creator-development and copyright literacy programs in India, strengthening awareness of music rights, royalties, and licensing among thousands of emerging and established creators. From My Music My Rights to the creator-first national campaigns #CreditTheCreator, #LicenseLiyaKya, and HER MUSIC, her work has shaped industry-wide conversations on fair compensation, representation, and equitable practices.

Rumpa has spearheaded groundbreaking IPs such as Soundscapes of India – India’s first Music Showcase Festival, KOLAB – Cross-border and Cross-cultural Songwriting Camps, and IPRS Stage, creating global pathways for Indian creators, showcasing regional talent, and fostering cross-cultural collaborations. She has represented India’s creator community at global conferences, and played a pivotal role in bringing the APMA Creators Conference, CISAC South Asia Pacific Meet, and significant WIPO-linked forums to India, strengthening India’s presence on the global music map.

Before joining IPRS, Rumpa held key leadership roles spanning diverse sectors in the Media & Entertainment industry, where she drove award-winning campaigns, launched top-performing shows, and built powerful audience engagement ecosystems. Her career is marked by consistent innovation, deep consumer understanding, and a commitment to elevating India’s creative economy.

Early Career & Media

Rumpa’s media journey began in Kolkata where she led the Brand Strategy for the first ever OOH TV network. Developed effective positioning to help build the brand as an alternative to mainline TV advertising. This early foundation enabled her to navigate the fast-changing Indian media landscape with agility and strategic clarity.

She then moved to the publishing business in TOI and SSPL (house of Bengal’s leading publications Bhraman Travel Monthly and Karmakshetra, Youth Weekly), where she worked across business management, IP development, and brand-building assignments. Expanded the product portfolio through ventures into the audio-visual medium, spearheading the planning, designing and implementation of the new business model.

In 2011, she joined Star Jalsha, Star India’s leading Bengali GEC, where she rapidly became an integral part of the channel’s brand evolution. As Brand Manager, she led consumer insights, content positioning, and campaigns that deepened the channel’s emotional connect with audiences across Bengal.

Her success at Star Jalsha led to a national leadership role at Star Plus, India’s #1 Hindi General Entertainment Channel. As Senior Manager – Marketing & Communication, she launched multiple flagship shows, driving 50–100% viewership spikes. Her 360° campaigns spanning TV, digital, on-ground activations, and influencer ecosystems, won Promax Gold & Silver, Abby Awards, and even a Limca Book of Records recognition for innovation and impact.

These years honed her strength in consumer behaviour, storytelling, brand architecture, and integrated communication, skills that now underpin her creator-focused approach at IPRS.

About the Company

IPRS – Indian Performing Right Society

India’s only copyright society for authors, composers, and publishers of music, representing over 20,000 members. The Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) is a government-authorized, non-profit copyright society representing music authors, composers, and publishers in India. Registered under the Copyright Act, 1957, it is responsible for protecting the intellectual property rights of music creators and ensuring they receive fair compensation for the use of their works.

IPRS licenses the public performance and communication of musical and literary works across television, radio, live events, digital platforms, and other public spaces. It monitors music usage, collects royalties from users, and distributes them transparently to its members. In addition to its licensing and royalty functions, IPRS supports the creative community through workshops, outreach programs, and creator-focused initiatives.

With a mission to build a sustainable and fair music ecosystem, IPRS works to ensure that every creator is duly compensated and that the value of creative work is respected across the industry.

Across every role, Rumpa has stood for one core principle: Driving Change through Innovation.

At IPRS, Rumpa drives brand communication, PR, creator outreach, member initiatives, and strategic partnerships—positioning the organisation as a forward-thinking CMO committed to transparency, growth, and creator-first governance.
