Pocket FM helps Flipkart venture into audiobooks

Audio streaming platform Pocket FM has partnered with homegrown e-commerce giant Flipkart with a strategic collaboration that will enable the latter to enter the audiobooks segment. With this partnership, Flipkart will be able to provide exclusive and licensed audiobooks through Pocket FM to its customer base of over 400 million.

According to research by Pocket FM, India reportedly ranks third in the world when it comes to audiobook listeners, amounting to 25 million. In an interview with BrandWagon Online, Rohan Nayak, co-founder, Pocket FM said, “In the last six months, we’ve seen a 5x rise in user base to 25 million users. From an engagement standpoint we’ve registered two million listening minutes per month with a user spending 110 minutes on an average.”

“Audiobooks have gained great prominence during the pandemic. This will help authors publish their work on our platform with the aid of audiobooks. Flipkart will assist the author in receiving the appropriate exposure,” said Kanchan Mishra, Business Head, FMCG, Home and General Merchandise, Flipkart in a statement.

Recently, Pocket FM launched an audiobook platform in March this year, reporting sales of over 1,20,000 audiobooks every month. “This partnership will only strengthen our efforts and help our publishers and authors community reach a wider audience,” said Ashu Behl, Senior Vice President, Content, Pocket FM.
