American streaming service, Netflix has collaborated with German audio brand, Sennheiser to bring spatial audio across its catalogue of titles. The former has said that spatial audio helps translate the cinematic experience of immersive audio to any stereo, “so the work creators do to bring you into the story happens no matter what device you use to watch Netflix”.
Netflix is incorporating Sennheiser’s AMBEO 2-Channel Spatial Audio to select titles that works on standard speakers. “AMBEO 2-Channel Spatial Audio provides an immersive experience far beyond what standard two-channel systems normally deliver,” says Sennheiser. “Compatible with any stereo system, it unleashes immersive audio for a larger audience than ever previously possible.”
Subscribers of the streaming platform only need to type ‘Spatial’ in the search bar to find the integrated titles on Netflix. Spatial audio will be enabled automatically when watching compatible titles like season four of ‘Stranger Things’. “This magical combination of sight and sound will bring viewers closer to the story, and we’re excited to add this capability to other features we support like 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos, and Netflix Calibrated Mode,” said Netflix in a statement.
In addition to the Duffer Brothers’ horror series, other content that supports spatial audio includes ‘The Adam Project’, ‘Red Notice’, ‘The Witcher’, among others.
