Natania Lalwani becomes first Indian songwriter to write a Riot Games anthem

Indo-American songwriter and producer Natania Lalwani has co-written ‘Know My Name’, an official anthem for Riot Games, the video game developer behind League of Legends. The track features True Damage, a musical collective associated with the game, and brings together Coco Jones, Vic Mensa, Sofia Reyes and Soyeon of K-pop group (G)I-DLE.

The song debuted in Spotify’s Global Top 10, according to the announcement, marking a major milestone for Lalwani, who is signed to Los Angeles-based Roc Nation. Her contribution places an Indian songwriter on a high-profile music project tied to one of the global gaming industry’s biggest names.

Riot Games is known for building music into its gaming universe, using original songs, virtual artists and collaborations with established musicians to connect with players beyond the games themselves. Its music projects have featured artists across pop, hip-hop and K-pop, bringing gaming audiences and music listeners together.

For Lalwani, ‘Know My Name’ adds to a songwriting catalogue that spans international pop and multiple genres. Her credits include work with Tyla, Nick Jonas, Cardi B, Julia Michaels, DJ Khaled, TWICE, Armaan Malik and Bella Poarch, among others. She has also worked on music for film and television, including M3GAN, Only Murders in the Building, Freakier Friday and Four More Shots Please.

Her work also extends to advertising campaigns for brands including Apple, Instagram, Spotify, Maybelline and Crocs. In India, her track ‘Mumbai Magic’, featuring Subhi and Shalmali Kholgade, was recently featured in Hasan Minhaj’s Netflix film Best of the Best.

Riot Games’ music projects show how video game companies are using original music and artist collaborations to build cultural identities around their titles. For songwriters, these projects offer opportunities to reach audiences beyond traditional music platforms.

Lalwani’s credit on ‘Know My Name’ also highlights the role Indian-origin songwriters play in international music production, often working behind the scenes on projects that reach global audiences.
