The role is ideal for an experienced A&R professional with strong connections across the Kannada music industry and expertise in devotional, film, and non-film music.

About Times Music

Times Music is a leading Indian music label and entertainment company with a diverse catalogue spanning multiple languages, genres, and generations. The company works across music acquisition, digital distribution, artist development, marketing, and catalogue monetization, with a strong presence across India’s regional music markets.

Job Overview

As the Manager – Content Acquisition, you will play a key role in expanding Times Music’s Kannada music catalogue. You will scout and sign artists, lyricists, composers, and producers while developing music projects that connect with regional audiences.

The role combines A&R, content acquisition, artist relationships, project management, music strategy, and commercial planning, with a particular focus on Kannada devotional and non-film music.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Scouting & Acquisition

Proactively identify, evaluate, and sign artists, lyricists, composers, and producers across devotional and non-film spaces. Build and nurture long-term relationships with key creative talent in the Kannada music ecosystem.

Devotional Music Development

Conceptualise and develop authentic, culturally resonant spiritual music projects. Maintain, manage, and strategically grow the existing South Indian catalogue to maximise reach and relevance.

Release Planning & Calendar Management

Design and oversee a structured music release calendar, curating album drops and singles around key festive periods and cultural moments to optimise digital performance and audience engagement.

Market & Trend Intelligence

Continuously monitor streaming analytics, industry developments, and evolving audience behaviours to make data-informed A&R decisions and stay ahead of regional music trends.

Project Planning & Execution

Own end-to-end planning and execution of assigned projects — both film and non-film — ensuring timely delivery of complete music release schedules within agreed budgets and quality benchmarks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with internal teams including Digital Sales & Promotion, Marketing, Social Media, Legal, and Finance to ensure all recorded content is commercially ready and effectively brought to market.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience particularly in the Kannada language music industry.
  • Established network of artists, composers, lyricists, and producers across devotional and non-film genres.
  • In-depth understanding of regional music trends, audience preferences, and digital streaming platforms.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Proven negotiation abilities and experience in cross-functional stakeholder coordination.
  • A creative mindset balanced with strong commercial acumen and a genuine passion for South Indian music.
