Virtual band Gorillaz will perform in India for the first time, with a two-city run scheduled for January 2027. The shows, presented by District by Zomato, are set to take place on January 23 at District Arena @ Terraform in Bengaluru and January 27 at Jio World Garden, BKC in Mumbai.
The tour follows the release of the band’s ninth studio album The Mountain, an India-inspired project featuring collaborations with artists including Asha Bhosle, Anoushka Shankar, Ajay Prasanna, Asha Puthli, Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash. Released on February 27, 2026 via the band’s independent label KONG, the album also includes singles such as “The Happy Dictator,” “The Manifesto,” “The God of Lying,” “Damascus” and “Orange County / The Hardest Thing,” continuing Gorillaz’s collaborative, cross-genre approach.

Gorillaz are an English virtual band created by Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett in 1998. The project centres around four fictional members: 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs, with its narrative unfolding across music videos, interviews, comic strips and animated films.
The India leg follows a 13-date run across the UK and Ireland and forms part of a wider global tour spanning Europe and North America. The live show will see Albarn joined by the full Gorillaz live band, alongside guest performers, including several of the band’s Indian collaborators.
“It has been and remains a dream of mine to bring Gorillaz in all its technicolour glory to India,” said Albarn. “It’s just the beginning and I truly look forward to the experience.”
Hewlett added, “Our dream has always been to do a tour of India. We’re very excited about returning to play shows in Mumbai and Bengaluru.”
Rahul Ganjoo, CEO of District by Zomato, said the tour marks a significant moment given the album’s connection to India. “Gorillaz coming to India for the first time in their 25-year history is momentous, and what makes it even more special is that their latest album was born here. India is woven into the very DNA of The Mountain, and there’s something remarkable about bringing that music back to the country that inspired it,” he said, adding that the shows will offer audiences a chance to experience the band’s integration of Indian musical textures live.
Ticketing will go live on the District app, with an exclusive Mastercard pre-sale opening at 1 PM IST on April 13, 2026 and running until 1 PM IST on April 18. General sales will begin at 2 PM IST on April 18. The platform is also offering a ‘Reserve Now, Pay Later’ option, allowing fans to book tickets by paying 25 percent upfront, with the balance due by June 2, 2026 for a limited window.
Often described as a large-scale audio-visual production, the Gorillaz live show draws from a catalogue that includes tracks such as “Feel Good Inc.,” “Clint Eastwood,” “On Melancholy Hill,” “DARE,” and “Dirty Harry.” Over a career spanning more than two decades, the band has built a global following, touring extensively and picking up multiple awards, including the BRIT and GRAMMY Awards.
