Biography & Career Highlights

Omkar Tamhan is a Delhi-born music producer, sound designer, acoustician and technologist whose career bridges the worlds of musical performance, studio engineering and immersive audio technology. His artistic journey began as a drummer on stage in Delhi, which evolved into formal training in sound engineering at SAE Byron Bay, Australia. Later, Tamhan returned to India equipped with technical depth and a global perspective.

Over the years, he has built a distinguished portfolio: he collaborated early with digital-phenomenon Bhuvan Bam (of BB Ki Vines) on independent music, has worked extensively in film and post-production sound (designing, mixing, mastering many titles), and has taken up leadership roles in sound education and studio infrastructure via his ventures. He has become a key figure in the adoption of immersive audio technologies (such as Dolby Atmos) in the Indian market.

Early Career & Music

Omkar’s first exposure to sound and rhythm came through his drumming and live performance in Delhi, which laid the foundation for his musical sensibility — feeling the beat, responding to the room, and understanding sound as an expressive force. With that performance background, he transitioned into formal sound engineering training at SAE Byron Bay, bringing both musical intuition and technical rigour into his practice.

Early in his producer career, Tamhan worked with Bhuvan Bam in the independent-digital music space. For instance, he is credited as producer on songs such as “Sang Hoon Tere” by Bhuvan Bam, where his role spanned composing, engineering and recording. In parallel, he began building his credentials in film-sound post-production: IMDb lists him as having contributed across music and sound departments since around 2015. Through this period, he developed a fluency not just in making music, but in shaping the full acoustic environment around it — from studio architecture and acoustics to mixing, mastering and delivering finished audio for film, OTT and immersive formats.

Transition to Entrepreneurship

As his technical and creative expertise matured, Omkar Tamhan didn’t just stay behind the console — he moved into entrepreneurship with the vision of raising industry standards in sound and education. Together with his co-founders he launched The Audio Guys Institute (TAG) in Mumbai, a training institute for advanced audio engineering, music production, and immersive audio workflows.

Simultaneously, he has taken senior roles in studio operations and facility design — notably with Mariyano Studios in Mumbai, which positions itself as a high-end production and post facility built with world-class acoustics and immersive audio capabilities. Through these ventures, Tamhan is not only providing creative services but also shaping infrastructure, training, and the next wave of audio professionals and creators.

About The Company

The Audio Guys Institute (TAG)
TAG Institute is a dedicated audio-education facility located in Andheri West, Mumbai. It features multiple world-class studios (Studio A, B, C, etc.), and is equipped with high-end gear such as the SSL Origin console (India’s first according to retrospective) and Genelec Smart Active Monitors, integrated with smart-campus-style digital tools. The institute emphasises hands-on training, real-industry equipment access, and bridging between academic learning and professional workflows.

Mariyano Studios presents itself as a full-service audio production and post facility, boasting marquee features such as a 13.1.8 Dolby Atmos setup (claimed as one of Asia’s largest), native theatrical Dolby Atmos mixing infrastructure, real-time collaborative mixing spaces, dubbing, localisation services, and AV finishing & mastering. The facility lists a wide range of film and OTT projects in its credits — including major releases like “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3”, “Dunki”, “Khichdi 2.” Omkar himself has been credited for sound design on select titles, most notably “Taaza Khabar.”

Impact & Vision

Omkar Tamhan’s work is significant for several reasons. On the creative side, his blend of musical roots and cutting-edge technology means he is helping Indian audio production move from standard stereo workflows into immersive, global-class territory (Dolby Atmos, spatial audio). On the educational side, through TAG Institute he is helping democratise access to high-end audio training in India, enabling emerging engineers, producers and technologists to learn at professional level without only relying on ad-hoc mentorship or self-study.

In terms of studio infrastructure, omkar role at Mariyano Studios means Indian creators now have access to top-tier mixing and post production facilities — bridging a gap between Indian and global production standards. Many projects listed reflect this ambition.
His overarching vision can be summed up in his own phrase: “Sound is emotion, engineered.” He positions sound as not just a technical discipline, but as an emotional, creative force — linked to feeling, storytelling, architecture, and technology. In doing so, he’s carving a future in which Indian audio and music production is more globally competitive, technically advanced and creatively inventive.

For the music industry, this means he stands as a model of how one can traverse from musician to technologist, from engineer to educator, from local artist to global-ready sound professional — a multifaceted trajectory that mirrors the changing landscape of contemporary music and production in India and beyond.
