Designation:
Assistant Manager / Manager / Senior Manager – Legal & Business Affairs
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drafting & Negotiation
Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements in the music industry, including content licensing, distribution, and intellectual property assignment agreements.
2. Intellectual Property Due Diligence
Conduct thorough IP due diligence for content acquisitions and partnerships.
Assist in maintaining rights management as part of the due diligence process.
3. Legal Advisory
Provide guidance on content-related legal matters, including rights clearance, fair use, privacy, defamation, and compliance with industry regulations.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with teams across content acquisition, operations, distribution, and compliance to ensure legal alignment.
5. IP Protection & Risk Management
Develop and implement policies and procedures to safeguard UMG’s intellectual property rights and minimize legal risks.
6. Litigation Support
Draft legal notices, assist in litigation matters, coordinate with external counsel, and keep management updated.
7. Industry Insights & Professional Development
Stay updated on legal developments, industry trends, and best practices in intellectual property and content law.
Requirements:
LLB/LLM with 5-6 years of post-qualification legal experience in a leading law firm or media organization.
Strong understanding of copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws, with specialized knowledge in music law (preferred), digital media, and entertainment industry regulations.
Experience in drafting and negotiating complex IP-related agreements within the music or media industry.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively independently and within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with technology platforms and digital content distribution models is a plus.
Strong commitment to maintaining high ethical and integrity standards.
