Job Overview
Sony Music Entertainment is looking for a detail-oriented Consultant – OTC Sales Processing & Reporting to support global sales reporting, invoicing, and royalty operations. This role sits at the intersection of finance, data analytics, and the music business, ensuring accuracy and compliance across worldwide reporting systems.
What you’ll do:
Sales Reporting Processing & Data Quality Analysis
- Review, audit, and process Sony Music Entertainment’s worldwide sales reporting
- Analyze sales reporting to verify adherence to contractual terms and agreements
- Review, audit, and analyze sales data quality control reports to ensure adherence to contractual terms and agreements
- Identify, communicate, and resolve inaccuracies and/or discrepancies between reporting received and the data stored within Sony Music’s worldwide databases; specifically focusing on the “root cause” of the issues
Invoicing, revenue accruals and account reconciliations
- Invoice in territories assigned, making sure tax, exchange rates and e-invoicing requirements are met.
- Reconcile clearing accounts at the end of the month, making sure all needed entries are posted as well as revenue accruals set in our accruing system.
- Coordinate account reconciliation certifications making sure all balances are thoroughly identified and understood
Global invoicing coordination
- Follow up on invoicing requests making sure they are addressed within the established deadlines.
- Coordinate with BPO the distribution of workload.
- Oversee quarterly intercompany royalty invoicing for Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and France.
- Oversee quarterly BPO and SSC invoicing issued to all affiliates from our legal entity
Business Process Improvements
- Proactively identify strategic opportunities and address them in a cross consumer fashion
- Identify “root cause” of the issues and suggest strategies to resolve
Communication & Coordination
- Ongoing interaction & communication of issues with management regarding Sales and Royalty reporting concerns
- Collaborate closely & coordinate with various teams on joint work items (including IS&T and off-shore partners)
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree; preferably in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum of 2 years work experience; music industry or other entertainment field preferred
- Ready to work in US shift (4.30 pm – 1.30 am) – during training period
- Post training: APAC/UK Hours – 10am -6.30pm
- Detail oriented individual with strong organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time productively
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to analyze and review information from several different sources (corporate systems)
- Prior experience with SAP, Royalty Systems, and/or Sales Systems would be preferred
- Capable of working independently, while also integrating into a team environment
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
- Proficiency in English language required: reading, written, and oral
- Additional foreign languages are a plus.
