Billboard India appoints Preeti Nayyar as Chief Operating Officer

Billboard India has named media and music industry executive Preeti Nayyar as its Chief Operating Officer, adding a seasoned operator to its leadership team as the platform expands its presence in the country’s music market.

Nayyar joins Billboard India with more than 25 years of experience across music, media and entertainment, having held senior roles at Universal Music Group, Disney, Radio Mirchi and the India Today Group.

In her new role, she will oversee business operations, revenue strategy, partnerships, P&L management and industry engagement as Billboard India continues to build its business across editorial, events, charts and brand partnerships.

The appointment comes as Billboard India looks to strengthen its position within India’s evolving music ecosystem. Launched through a partnership with Other Side Ventures Pvt. Ltd., the platform has been expanding its footprint through editorial coverage, industry initiatives, live experiences and chart-based programming.

Nayyar most recently spent nearly nine years at Universal Music Group, where she founded and led UMG For Brands across India and Asia. The division focused on connecting artists, music properties and cultural moments with brands, helping develop partnerships across the region’s entertainment landscape.

Her experience sits at the intersection of media, music and commercial strategy, areas that are becoming increasingly important as brands deepen their involvement in the music sector and music companies seek new revenue opportunities beyond streaming.

Commenting on the appointment, Priyanka Khimani said Nayyar’s understanding of media businesses, partnerships and brand-building would be instrumental as Billboard India enters its next phase of growth.

Nayyar said she sees significant opportunity in India’s rapidly expanding music economy, noting the growing influence of artists, fan communities and music-driven culture across the country.

The move marks another step in Billboard India’s efforts to establish itself as a long-term player in the market, with a focus on connecting artists, audiences, industry stakeholders and brands through a combination of content, experiences and commercial initiatives.
