Telugu Music Releases from the 2nd half of February 2020 – Reviewed

The first half of February 2020 was rather quiet in terms of releases for Telugu music. The 2nd half follows suit with relatively fewer releases with ‘College Kumar’ (A.H.Kaashif) being the only full soundtrack that got a release. Rest were singles with Amit Trivedi in the mix for ‘V’. Here’s a look at what is in store.

Ventaade Gaayam – Hit – Vivek Sagar – Sony Music South

Vivek goes all jazzy in this groovy track. Mohana Bhogaraju’s vibrant vocals are an asset to this track as she hits all the right notes.

Rating – 8/10

Kurisena Kurisena – Orey Bujjiga – Anup Rubens – Mango Music

The ‘Vilavilalaade’ reprise and the mellifluous charanam work really well for this duet. Armaan Malik and P.Meghana are adequate. Anup’s composition is breezy and has a cozy feel to it and the ambient arrangements lead by the guitar and the strings work well.

Rating – 7/10

Manasu Maree – V – Amit Trivedi – Aditya Music

Amit conjures up a uber stylish tune that gets one jiving almost immediately and builds on it with the Clarinet & Saxophone (I D Rao) arrangements laced with a trippy Sitar (Prasad Rahane). Shashaa Tirupati and Amit himself render this admirably (with backing vocals by Yazin Nizar), despite Amit’s wobbly diction at places. Lovely track!

Rating – 8/10

This is Amit Trivedi’s 2nd outing in Telugu, the 1st being the magnum opus Chiranjeevi starred ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ that had middling music. This is more Amit’s territory and it would be interesting to see what he has in store in the rest of the album.

Edho Edho – O Pitta Katha – Praveen Lakkaraju – Mango Music

Praveen has quite a catchy tune here, at his disposal. The arrangements with a thumping rhythm, Guitars, and a solo Violin are neat as well. But his choice of singer leaves a lot to be desired. Sweekar Agasthi is good one wonders what a better singer could have added here.

Rating – 5/10

Kanulaaraa – College Kumar – A.H.Kaashif – Sony Music South

Sathyaprakash is superb here and owns the pensive composition with his vocals. The ‘Enno enno’ portion amps up the broodiness of the track and Kaashif for his part uses the string ensemble and the flute to telling effect. The layered rhythms work beautifully. The pick of this soundtrack.

This track is only part of the complete jukebox on Youtube. Here is the link to stream the track.

Rating – 8/10

That wraps up the list of releases for February 2020, that ended up being quite an average outing for the Telugu music industry. With the rest of Amit Trivedi’s soundtrack for ‘V’ due for release and the summer vacations around the corner, we look forward to a better display in March.
