South India Music Companies Association (SIMCA) has joined the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN), an international organisation representing the independent recorded music sector. This expansion brings the total number of trade associations in the WIN network to 36 across 40 territories.
SIMCA represents over 60% of the South Indian music market and comprises 78 member businesses. With a deep understanding of the region’s unique challenges and opportunities, SIMCA adds valuable expertise to the WIN network.
This expansion comes at a time when the Indian recorded music market has experienced remarkable growth, reaching $318.6 million in 2022, according to IFPI data. South India Music Companies Association joins other Asian WIN members, such as IMCJ (Japan) and LIAK (South Korea), forming the APAC Alliance working group for the Asia-Pacific region alongside AIR (Australia) and IMNZ (New Zealand).
These new additions to WIN’s network highlight the importance of fostering collaboration and strengthening independent music globally. By welcoming SIMCA, WIN amplifies diverse voices, artistic expressions, and unique perspectives within the music industry.
The aim is to empower independent music businesses and rights holders to make a lasting impact on the global stage. WIN remains committed to growing and strengthening the global independent network. The addition of a member from the Asia-Pacific region marks a significant achievement for WIN and its dedication to supporting the independent music community worldwide.
