Short format video platform app Triller has started paying singers royalty to ISRA.
Chairman of ISRA, Shri Anup Jalota said, “It is indeed great that Singers of India have now started getting their Royalty through ISRA. Infact, I would like to thank Triller to have respected the Rights of Singers in India and have now started to pay the Singer’s Royalty to ISRA. The Community of Singers look forward to a great relationship with Triller. I hope all other Users also start to recognise their duty to pay Singers Royalty under the Copyright Act.”

Lata Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar, Suresh Wadkar, Gurdaas Mann, Pankaj Udhas, Alka Yagnik, Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz, Kumar Sanu, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Sonu Nigam, & Sanjay Tandon with support from M/s. Asha Bhosle, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shaan, Hariharan, Jassi, Kunal Ganjawala, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mahalaxmi Iyer, and many others formed the ISRA (Indian Singers’ Rights Association) and are members of ISRA.
Co-founder and CEO of ISRA, Mr. Sanjay Tandon while thanking Triller for upholding the Singers Rights in India stated “It is with great pleasure that I welcome the relationship that ISRA now has with Triller Inc and being a major player on the Short Format Video Platform, I look forward to a long and still more fruitful relationship with Triller. With this, Singer members of ISRA will now get paid their Royalty for the Songs sung by them and utilised on the Triller platform. Also, users of Triller will now feel satisfied that usage of any song of a singer in India by them will now result in their favourite Singer getting paid Royalty for that”.
By virtue of the 2012 amendment to the Copyright Act 1957 (14 of 1957), w.e.f. 21st June 2012 Singers are now entitled to Royalties in case of making of their Performances for commercial use.
ISRA today controls 95% of the Performer’s (Singer’s) Rights and of the members including singers from North, South, East & West of the Country. It is also affiliated itself with foreign overseas societies.
Recently, Triller signed a global licensing deal with Times Music.
