MGMH launches distribution and publishing wing

Ritnika Nayan, formerly at Downtown Music, CD Baby, and Fuga Country, has introduced MGMH Groove, a fresh distribution and publishing division under Music Gets Me High. The move comes as a response to the persisting gap in services available to Indian artists through existing distributors.

Nayan emphasizes the necessity for artists to receive more than just basic music releases. “Our aim is to provide artists with the attention and resources they truly need,” she states.

MGMH Groove not only handles music distribution but also focuses on boosting artists’ visibility within the industry. Alongside standard services, the platform facilitates connections with influential figures like music editors, publication houses, and festival curators.

In contrast to conventional subscription models, Groove operates on a pay-per-upload basis, with a modest percentage fee afterward. Additional offerings include forthcoming publishing administration, split payments, custom label names, playlist pitching, festival opportunities, access to music magazines, membership in the DIT global artist community, legal assistance via Lexic, mental health support through Pause, global marketing via Group Speed, and more.

This expansion echoes Nayan’s earlier diversification efforts. Four years ago, MGMH introduced MGMH Academy, releasing Indie 101 and launching the nation’s sole music business management course in collaboration with the Sri Aurobindo Center of Arts & Communication.
