India’s largest interschool music competition, Band it is back



India’s largest inter-school music competition ‘Band-It’ organized by Furtados School of Music (FSM) is set to experience its biggest year yet. The music competition encourages group and solo performers to showcase their talent. With participation of over 700 students, from top schools like Ryan International, JBCN International School, Global Indian International School, APL Global School, Oakridge International School, GD Goenka Public School and many more, Band-It, searches for young and fresh musical talent from across India.

Music nurtures the creative side of kids’ and also allows them to try something new and develop confidence. Furtados School of Music motivates students to bring alive their talent and exposes them to the world of music.

The competition is currently in its pre-finale phase, where students are mentored by experts from the music industry to fine tune and polish their talent further. After 2 successful years, this year the grand finale will be held in Mumbai on 16th November, where the winner will be announced and will receive prizes worth INR 2 lacs. The finale will also witness a performance by a student ensemble from the Akshaya Patra NGO.

As an educational institute that is pioneering and standardizing music education in India, Band-It as a property aims at encouraging all schools, principals, parents and students to nurture and promote musical talent. “Our plan is to make Band-It the most aspirational music competition in the country. About Band-It: Furtados School of Music (FSM) has curated “Band-It Festival”, a national platform for all the young talented and aspiring musicians. The festival is a music competition that encourages ensemble and solo performances.“Band-It Festival” is an event that invites all schools to participate in this music festival and battle for the winner’s title.

About FSM: Furtados School of Music (FSM) was founded in July 2011, with a vision to make accessible quality music education to children, young and old, making the entire learning process fun-filled, joyous and memorable. The roster of instruments and programmes are constantly expanding and currently extend to Piano, Electronic Keyboard, Guitar, Drums, Violin and Vocal. Special emphasis is also given to Music Theory and Musical knowledge to ensure the comprehensive development of a student and eventual musician. FSM has around 12 centres pan India.
