Frontiers Music SRL, this evening, announced the signing of Indian Rock band, Girish And The Chronicles (GATC) to the list of their repertoire alongside, Def Leppard, Survivor, Whitesnake, Journey, Mr. Big, Inglorious, Magnus Karlsson, etc., for a multi-album deal.
Frontiers was founded in 1996 in Italy as a business specialised in the distribution of Melodic Rock indie labels. Soon, it developed as one of the cutting edge indie label companies in Melodic and Hard Rock Music. After developing a partnership – which lasted the few initial years with the British production company Now & Then (who brought bands and artists like Ten, Harem Scarem, Crown of Thorns, Jorn, etc.)- along with a careful and aggressive A&R policy, Frontiers has soon become synonymous with quality Classic and Melodic Hard Rock, Progressive and Metal music in the international markets.
Upon signing the deal, the band’s vocalist Girish Pradhan expresses,
“Frontiers is home to some of the most legendary artists, some of whom we actually idolised as kids. It is truly a wonderful feeling to be a part of this family. We had hoped for this for quite some time but we had no idea that we would be the first Indian band to do this! We really look forward to creating some crazy albums together and adding to the legacy.”
Pradhan is also part of the international metal group, Firstborne, which is led by Chris Adler, James Lomenzo and Hugh B. Myrone.
Hailing from the state of Sikkim, and based out of Bengaluru, GATC is a recognised name amongst Indian rockers. They are known for their soaring, powerful vocals, biting guitars, thunderous bass, and pounding drums. Often, staying true to the authentic ‘80s heavy metal/hard rock sound which they grew up with.
GATC has supported bands ranging in variety from American Alt Rockers Hoobastank to Finnish rockers Poets of the Fall to German thrashers Destruction. They also recently toured with/backed ex-Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler during his performances in India. GATC plans to head to start recordings very soon. This shall be their overall third album, expected to release in early 2022. Their previous two being Back on Earth (Universal Music India) and Rock The Highway (Independent release).
“We have already started making demos and they sound great. As always, we want to take this album to the next level. It will have all the musical elements that we love to hear, in our day to day lives, which of course revolves around good old Rock ‘n Roll. From the Sunset Strip to NWOBHM and more. Our audience can expect some great anthems.”
Interestingly, Girish and the Chronicles aren’t the only bands to sign with an international music label. Previously Indian acts from varying genres including Parekh and Singh (Peacefrog Records, UK) and Prateek Kuhad (Elektra Records, USA) have also signed with international labels.
