Ruhaniyat – A soulful evening of Ghazals, Poetry and Geet

Ruhaniyat, a soulful evening in the Baithak tradition that celebrates the myriad shades of love, through conversations in Ghazals, Poetry and Geet. The event hopes to explore and unravel the layers of love through the immortal words of Faiz, Ghalib, Mir and more. This will be a vocal performance by Ananyaa and Vidhya who collaborate on this project to celebrate the complexity and simplicity of love.

About the artists


Vidhya Gopal

An architect and a musician, Vidhya Gopal is an independent artiste looking to carve a unique path. She is trained primarily in Hindustani Classical music but holds a special love for poetry and ghazals. Vidhya has conceived two original music projects – The Betel Leaf and Chaturangana- which is the cross-roads of music, dance and architecture. She also conducts workshops titled “Journey of a Song” that encourages song-writing and original music making. Apart from this, she engages in some recordings for short films, web series and ad jingles.

Ananyaa Gaur

Ananyaa Gaur, is an interdisciplinary practitioner for whom music is a way of expressing herself and connecting within. Trained in multiple music idioms her performances include a broad repertoire of ghazals, nirgun bhajans, folk songs, classical renditions, with keen interest in secular music traditions. An Urdu Academy awardee, she has co-created various programmes, conducted workshops, and as part of the Gandharva choir performed across India and abroad. An independent documentary filmmaker, Ananyaa sings Faiz, Ghalib, Bahadurshah Zafar, Amir Khusrao among others.
