antiSOCIAL presents Blackstratblues ‘When It’s Time’ Album Launch in Mumbai.
Blackstratblues showcases their fifth album When It’s Time, coming in after The Last Analog Generation which went to #1 on the all India iTunes chart. The lineup features Jai Row Kavi on Drums, Adi Mistry on Bass, Beven Fonseca on Keys and Warren Mendonsa on Guitars. The quartet has been playing together since 2013 and has evolved into an explosive live act that spans everything from organic Rock & Blues to Electronica and vintage Psychedelia.

Blackstratblues is a solo project of Warren Mendonsa, who is a guitarist, songwriter, producer and recording engineer. The current lineup is augmented by Jai Row Kavi on Drums, Adi Mistry on Bass and Beven Fonseca on Keys. Their music is predominantly instrument, consisting of a blend of Blues, Rock & 70’s Psychedelia with strong melodic and occasional electronic influences.The band has played some prestigious gigs such as NH7 (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017), Sulafest 2012, Indigo & Blues 2012 and Mahindra Blues Fest 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017 & 2018, where they shared the stage with their heroes Tedeschi Trucks Band and Doyle Bramhall II. Warren also jammed with artists such as Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) and John Mayall during the customary all star jams.
There are 4 Blackstratblues albums that have been released till date:
2007’s Nights In Shining Karma was recorded solely by Warren and his brother Zorran in a garage in Auckland. The album garnered significant praise and appreciation on music forums online, and contained songs like Anuva’s Sky and Blues For Gary which are still well-loved by fans nearly a decade later.
2009’s The New Album was also released solely online, and was recorded with Cole Goodley on Drums, Jared Kahi on Bass and Johnny Barker & Emma Walter on guest vocals. Ode To A Sunny Day from this album featured on MTV Coke Studio 2 as the basis of Karsh Kale’s track Ode To A Sunny Day/Hallelujah.
2015 saw the release of the third album titled The Universe has a Strange Sense of Humour, and featured Jai Row Kavi and Karsh Kale on Drums, Adi Mistry on Bass and Nikhil D’Souza on guest vocals.
The most recent album titled The Last Analog Generation features Adi Mistry on Bass, Jai Row Kavi on Drums, Beven Fonseca On Keyboards, and Tejas Menon on vocals on one of the tracks. It was released in August 2017, and went straight to #1 on the iTunes India cross-genre charts on the day of release. It stayed there for a week and received considerable audience and critical acclaim.
The band is currently working on their next album, which is tentatively to be released early 2019.
