BTS has been crowned with 3 Guinness World Records on April 18, 2019. Their track Boy with Luv, bagged the titles of “most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours,” “most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours,” and “most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group.”
Boy with Luv ft. Halsey, released on April 12, 2019, as the lead single from their sixth EP, Map of the Soul: Persona. The album also features Ed Sheeran. The video acquired 74.6 million views on YouTube on the first day of its release.
The massive K-Pop fad has augmented K-pop merchandising alone to become a $100 million-dollar industry. The celebrities from Hollywood have expressed their affection towards K-Pop time and again.
In 2017, Halsey swore as a BTS fan. She took to social media on congratulating the group for their win at the Billboard Music Awards. Fast-forward two years, she collaborates with them and wins the Guinness, not for one, but 3 titles!

BTS’ international popularity comes a lot from social media. They became the first K-pop act to reach No.1 on the US albums chart with the most Twitter engagements.
Guinness Records also announced that K-pop fans set a new record for ‘The Most-Used Hashtag on Twitter in a 24-hour window,’ with the hashtag #TwitterBestFandom. The total hashtags used were 60,055,339 between March 16 -17, 2019. The hashtag was utilised during the 14th Annual ‘Soompi Awards.’ BTS, BLACKPINK, EXO and GOT7, came out on top.
Ariana Grande’s Thank u, Next, BTS’ Idol, Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do and PSY’s Gentleman have successfully garnered 55.4 million, 45 million, 43.2 million, 38 million views, respectively. On the other hand, K-Pop sensation BLACKPINK had a fleeting grasp of all three record titles for just over a week, with 56,700,000 views in 24 hours of their latest single Kill This Love which premiered on April 4.
