19th Swami Haridas-Tansen Sangeet Nritya Mahotsava

One of India’s biggest classical music festival, ‘Swami Haridas-Tansen Sangeet Nritya Mahotsava’, presented by Bharatiya Sangeet Sadan and HCL Concerts will be held from 9-12 January, 2020 at the Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi from 6:30pm onwards. This year’s event will feature legendary artists including PT. Vishwamohan Bhatt, Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar, Ustad Shujaat Khan and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, among others. The entry to the Mahotsava is complimentary and passes are available at www.swamiharidastansen.org with seating at first-come-first-serve basis.
On the first day of the event, Padma Bhushan recipient Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt will play his famous Mohan Veena along with his son, Pt. Salil Bhatt on Satvik Veena and the Rajasthani folk musicians, Manganiyars. This will be followed by a mesmerizing Hindustani classical music performance by vocalist – Smt. Parveen Sultana. The concluding act will be performed by Sarod Maestro, Ustad Aashish Khan and the Tabla maestro, Pt. Bickram Ghosh of the Patiala gharana.

Started in 1971 and resumed in 2000, the Mahotsava aims to keep the interest and tradition of Indian art forms, both musical and performing arts alive, particularly in the younger generation. The four-day event is sponsored by Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts and supported by Lemon Tree Hotels and Art Karat.
