The 2019 Grammy Awards nominations were announced on the Friday, the 7th of December 2018. Last years ‘Best New Artist Winner’ Alessia Care joined Apple music host Zane Lowe, Jannelle Monae and Shawn Mendes to announce a select list of categories. The full list of nominations was announced shortly thereafter on the recording company’s official website. (www.grammy.com).
Leading the list of nominations are hip hop stars, Kendrick Lamar with 8 nominations and Drake with 7. Producer Boi-1da and Brandi Carlile earned six apiece, making Carlile the most nominated woman at the 2019 Grammys. Cardi B, Childish Gambino, H.E.R., Lady Gaga, Maren Morris, producer Sounwave and mastering engineer Mike Bozzi follow with five nods.
The two-time ‘Album of the Year’ winner, Taylor Swift, was nominated in just ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ category for her single ‘Reputation up’. Eminen too was nominated in just a single category, ‘Best Rap Song’ for ‘Lucky You’.
The women are leading the nominations for the ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Best New Artist’ categories, with Cardi B, Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile, Janelle Monáe, Jorja Smith, H.E.R. and many more, in pursuit of the awards.
The nominees will have to wait until the 61st GRAMMY Awards to air on CBS Feb. 10, 2019 for the final result.
