The New Year is still new and most importantly, the festival zing is not over yet. With a plethora of festivals to choose from, India’s music festival calendar is choc-a-bloc. Let us look beyond the Sunburn, NH7 Weekenders, Supersonics and SulaFest, and explore some of the lesser-known albeit power packed musical events happening in the coming days. Find an excuse to remain outside the shell and get your travel plans rolling.

Arambol World Music Festival – 3rd Edition

In its third edition, the two-day Arambol World Music Festival will feature music from different genres. Music sessions, 12 live acts, happiness and culture explosions amongst nature and surrounded by beautiful people is something no one would want to miss.

Dover Lane Music Conference

Since 1952 in Kolkata, India, Dover Lane Music Conference is catering to the highest order of Indian Classical Music. In its 66th edition, this festival will feature eminent classical artistes performing over four days of musical extravaganza.

Ragasthan 2018

Asia’s first desert camping festival, as they claim, Ragasthan is unique yet rooted amongst the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Experience some uninhibited musical delight with over 50 artists, one artists’ village, a sociable camping space under the open sky and more in its third edition this year.

Bollywood Music Project

The multi-genre Bollywood music festival is all set to take off for the second time at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Grounds, Delhi from 27-28 January with a line-up featuring some of the biggest names in the music industry. Apart from the headlining acts, Farhan Live, director-composer Vishal Bhardwaj, Arijit Singh, Amit Trivedi, and Vishal-Shekhar, the Delhi audience will relish innumerable flavours of music cutting across genres.

Udaipur World Music Festival 2018

With less than a month for Udaipur World Music Festival 2018, this three-day festival will highlight various cultures and music from around the globe without burning a hole in your pocket. Apart from the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, there will be Flavia Coelho’s Baile funk and traditional music all the way from Brazil. The full line-up is yet to be announced.

Mahindra Blues Festival

Asia’s largest celebration of the Blues, the eighth edition of Mahindra Blues Festival 2018 is back. It will bring together some of the best Blues musicians in the world for two days at the iconic Mehboob Studio in Mumbai. The fantastic line-up features British Blues legend John Mayall, New Orleans Bluesman Walter Wolfman Washington, Blues vocal powerhouse Layla Zoe and six-string virtuoso Coco Montoya, along with Mumbai’s very own Blackstratblues and the winners of The Mahindra Blues Band Hunt 2018.
